Buy4Causes is adding a new channel of revenues for charities by letting people do what they would have done anyway. I.e. if you are buying something anyway, why not initiate the purchase from here with the same vendor you would have used anyway and for the same price if you can at the same time do something good! As we grow and get volume I expect to be able to negotiate better revenue shares and matching contributions over time. Please help us to spread the word!

When we launched Buy4Causes in 2010 I couldn’t help but thinking back in time to April 2001 when I was standing at the Geographic North Pole. I was part of an international expedition who had traveled here by ski, man hauling all our equipment ourselves, without external help over the Arctic Ocean starting from the Siberian side in Russia and all the way to 90.000 degrees north, the Geographic North Pole. We were now among a handful of people to travel here by foot or ski since Robert E. Peary together with Mathew Henson traveling with dogs and sleds were recognized as the first to reach the pole in 1909. It was a big moment in my life and I could feel history in the air.

Due to climate change we are now facing ice free summers at the North Pole! This is a very sad development that I would rather not have seen in my lifetime. Soon it’s possible that nobody will ever be able to undertake the same journey again over the frozen Arctic Ocean, not to mention the irreparable damages to wildlife and the global ecosystem.

When I came up with the idea for Buy4Causes I had originally only planned it to be for supporting the fight against climate change. As I was talking to people I received many suggestions for adding additional causes to the plan. I’m very grateful for this feedback and we have now identified several worthy causes that support both environmental as well as humanitarian issues.
